Looking for an apartment or roommates, around May 1st. Mid twenties, lesbian, will be working downtown on Avenue of the Arts very soon(woohoo!) I'm friendly, fairly clean (not a neat freak but not a slob), pay all my bills on time. I'm flexible about where, but I want it to be a safe neighborhood and be within biking or walking distance of the theatre district on S. Broad. Looking either for a studio/one bedroom or roommates who have a space. My budget is 500-700, including utilities/internet. I do NOT just want to rent a room in someone's house and feel holed up and awkward all the time--I'm hoping to have a home of my own or roomies I can socialize with! Would like people around my age. Please read the full ad before responding!

Looking for a roommate to search for a Center City apartment! [06 Aug 2009|12:28am]

cocoafiend
I'm not having much luck on craigslist, so I thought I'd give it a go here even though I really just use my LJ for posting in communities!

I'm looking to move from central NJ to Philadelphia in early September/late August, and I'm looking for an as-yet-to-be-found apartment to share with one or more females, preferably students or young professionals. I'm a 22-year-old female college grad getting a job in the restaurant business, and my ideal apartment would be in Center City, especially around the Queen Village area, but anywhere within walking distance of Center City I could deal with. I'll also be looking for an apartment with outside access (a deck/balcony or a yard), washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, and that is cat friendly (I have one cat and sometimes take care of my boyfriend's). If your dream apartment sounds similar, or if you're looking for a roommate, drop me an e-mail! I want to begin apartment hunting ASAP.

As for me, I'm clean, and a pretty fun and easygoing person (or so I'd like to think). I like to bake and cook a lot, and I go out, but not every evening. I'd prefer to room with someone social, since I like having people over, but more as a casual thing - I wouldn't be having any crazy huge parties. I'm also looking for roommates who'd want to get together for a coffee/meal once in a while or just chill out and watch TV. We don't have to be best friends, but it would be nice to at least get along and hang out together once in a while! If you're interested in meeting up and looking for an apartment together (or if you already have a place and need a roommate), send me an e-mail with a few details about yourself.

E-mail cocoafiend @ gmail dot com for details.

I NEED ROOMMATES in South Philly/ Center City!! [08 May 2009|07:23pm]

rainhead

Well, hey there!

Are you 20-30 years old, SUPER NICE, with steady employment and a great attitude, but still SUPER POOR? Then we have tons in common already!

We should combine forces and snag an apartment or house with multiple bedrooms at an affordable price and split the rent so we can all sigh with relief when the rent check is due every month, instead of having a panic attack. Or maybe you're already doing that and you have an open room that you would like a genuine, compassionate, conscientious person- much like myself- to fill?

...or maybe you're just one person and you'd like to move in with me in my current apartment for roughly 460 a month when the lease needs to be  renewed August 1st and we could look for something better in another year...

I would love to find 3-4 awesome people to live with in the upcoming year and I would love to pay less than I already do. If that's not going to happen, I'll need a roommate here at Dickinson & Broad, if you're interested.

About me:

24 yr old female
Employed (by a prestigious dog-walking service)
Certified holistic health counselor
 Vegetarian
 New-to-Philadelphia
 Pet-owner (Guinea pigs & Cats)/ animal lover
 Agreeable, Respectful, Courteous, Compassionate, Trustworthy
 Non-smoker/ no drugs
Liberal-minded
Quiet but friendly
I love: music, art, philosophy, poetry, films, & all kinds of healthy FUN!

I believe in:
Gender equality
LBGTQ + rights
Eco-friendly living
Kindness
Good communication
Santa Claus

I've got:
Up to 460 dollars a month for rent including utilities ( I would prefer 250-400)
A good heart
A lot of patience
A VERY open mind
A sense of humor
A nice, polite, friendly, musically talented boyfriend
An awesome friend who might be moving here also but doesn't have a job in the area yet
A set of dishes
A vegetable peeler
Pets
A bike that I need to bring inside
A couple of nifty plants

What I DON'T got:

A lot of friends in the area (Just moved here...)
Furniture & appliances (Help, no microwave, toaster, etc. once my roommate leaves in mid-July!)
Good credit.... : ( ... long story : /
A lot of extra money
Roommates!

I want:

Some awesome, considerate, kind folks (who don't smoke inside & like pets) to look for a bigger place with, a similar person to share my current apartment with me starting Aug 1st, or a great spot in a nice house where great people are already living. I want to get into a comfortable situation that I can call home for at least a year or more.

I don't know if I my credit is good enough to get a lease on a place other than the place I have now without some other people with decent credit signing it with me, so it would be great if you already have a lease and you just want me to hand over the money. That I can definitely do!

I would like a place with a washer & dryer (this spot doesn't have them), big windows, wooden floors...but I'm not that picky right now.

NOTE: I NEED to remain living in this general vicinity (South Philly/ Center City) for my work. I would prefer to stay between Mifflin & Spruce/ 7th & 18th as I will have to be within quick biking distance of all my current clients to keep my job. So if you want to search for something with me, you need to be okay looking in this location. I'll need a place by Aug. 1st, the latest!

Please message me with questions, suggestions, prospects, anecdotes, etc if you've got any at all! Thanks a lot for reading!

Boyfriend & I looking for a room :) [13 Feb 2009|12:58am]

marissaaa
Hey, just found this community and am getting a little worn out on craigslist.

So my boyfriend and I are looking for a room to rent around March 1st or earlier. Our budget is $450 w/o utilities and a little more with. Move in cost, we want to stay around $1000. We do not need cable really, and internet is free a lot of places. Just need the basic utilities but if you already have cable/internet we wouldn't have an issue paying it.

We have lived together for a while (in pretty tight quarters if I might add and with up to 4 other people in a 3bdrm house). We found ourselves picking up after past roommates so we would prefer no more than 2-3 other roommates. We are very clean and respectful, we are not home bodies who just hang around the house all day long.

We bike everywhere and try to stay as busy as possible when we are not sleeping or working- So hopefully your place is bike friendly. :) I just moved from Michigan in July and I'm into photography and culinary arts. He just moved from Portland in July and is into hip hop, writing and is a tattoo artist. We both are vegetarian and neither of us smoke or drink but don't care at all what you do. . We really want to find a place that is dog friendly as well, so hopefully you are open to that- because it is a dealbreaker. I can describe that aspect more.

We are both actually in our home towns (Detroit and Portland) at the moment due to medical and family issues, but want to be back "home" asap to Philly as we both love the city.

Please let me know if you know ANYONE who needs to rent a room or has a sublet, we just do not want to commit to a year lease (month to month, six month etc is okay).

$650 Roommate Needed in NICE part of Norristown - All utilities included

Seeking roommate for immediate move-in (or March 1st)

2 guys (filmmaker and web designer), both late 20’s, looking for 3rd roommate, male or female, to share a cool house in a NICE part of Norristown. It’s a single, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath, 1500 sq. ft. house, with front and back yards that are great for BBQ or parties as the weather gets warmer.

Rent includes all utilities: water, electric, gas, cable, and internet. As both of us are tech geeks, the house has a plasma screen, and is wired with digital cable, DVR, HBO, Showtime, and a wireless-N internet network running throughout the house. Also, believe it or not, an XBox360, Playstation 3 AND Nintendo Wii!

The room itself is about 10’x11’ plus a closet. Plenty of room for a full-size bed, desk, dresser, or even more more stuff if you feel like using a loft (one of us is). Tons of available storage space in basement, and extra hall closet upstairs not currently in use if additional space is needed for clothing.

Easy access to 202, 476, 76, Germantown Pike, and the King of Prussia and Plymouth Meeting malls. Lease is on month to month basis. 30 days notice required on move-out. Non-smoker preferred, no pets, please. We're all pretty nerdy, too, so if you enjoy the Simpsons/Mystery Science Theater/Weeds/Battlestar Galactia, you'll fit riiiight in.

Please email with questions, for more information, or to set up an appointment, matt@cinevore.com

looking for a female roommate [15 Jun 2008|11:37pm]

nohx
Hi everyone! I am looking to move into downtown Philadelphia as soon as I can, and I am looking for a female roommate my age or older to share an apartment with. Preferably someone who also doesn't smoke and does not have any free-roaming pets.

I am 25, a non-smoker and am a video and web professional. The job I currently have is virtual so I'd be working from home a fair amount of the time, but I also work out of cafes and shared office spaces.

I am a friendly, clean and quiet person who also enjoys having fun and being friendly with roomies. I am very respectful of others' space. I enjoy watching movies, reading, photography and cooking. Most weekends I do low-key hanging out with friends but also go out sometimes. I am heavily involved in the local new media scene.

I am looking to move ASAP and my range is about $500-$600/month plus utils. I don't need cable or a landline, just good internets.

If you are interested, please comment and I will send you my email address so we can talk further. Also, if you know anyone who is in need of a roomie, please send them my way.

Thanks for reading! I'm x-posting this in a few comms to cover my bases, so apologies in advance.

Delaware County Question [15 Jun 2008|01:35pm]

hollyberrie05
Hi, my boyfriend and I are moving to Delaware County in July. We have been looking at apartments in several communities throughout the county, but haven't been able to find much on the communities themselves. We are currently looking at Media, Lansdowne, Glenolden, Secane, Morton, Darby and Chester. Is there anything we should know about these communities? Good, bad, expensive, inexpensive, cross them off our list, etc. Are there any we should check out? We will be visiting the area in a few weeks to look at apartments in person, but any advance info would be extremely helpful!

SWF, 34, Seeking Roommate(s) by October 1, 2008 [01 Jun 2008|01:31pm]

UPDATE: I've found a place to live!  In West Philly. :)

Hi there, I am 34 year old professional female looking to move back to Philadelphia by October 1st 2008.  My ideal living situation would be to rent a 2 bedroom apartment or house with another professional female or gay male 25-45.  Ideal neighborhoods would be Fairmount/Art Museum area (exluding Brewerytown), West Philly (up to 48th Street), Northern Liberties/Fishtown/Port Richmond, South Philly (preferably just below South Street), and would consider Center City as well.

Let me just say that I have many fears about living with other people, especially strangers.  I am taking a great leap of faith by posting this publicly.  But since I don't have any solid plans yet, I need to get cracking and explore every option I can!  I was burned a couple of years ago by a person I thought was a friend.  It was an awful experience and I never want to repeat that again!   It left a sour taste in my mouth about living with people.

Due to that experience, I feel it will be essential to meet and hang out with a potential roommate a few times before making any decisions to habitate together. I find it difficult to trust people at first due to that past experience. I really hope I can find someone fairly compatible and trustworthy.  I don’t need to be best friends with you, but I would certainly like to get along and be able to communicate in a non passive-aggressive way.

A cordial living arrangement would suit me. I’d like to be able to come home from a hard work day and shoot the breeze, share food sometimes (I love to cook!), watch tv shows together, etc.  I’m a bona fide computer geek; I tend to spend a lot of time in front of my computer, but I would certainly want some sort of social and friendly relationship with a roommate.

I’m typically a clean person, but sometimes things get messy especially if I’m busy, but I can and certainly do pick up after myself especially in common areas.  I’d expect the same of my roommate(s).

Above everything, though, is the fact that potential roommate(s) would be OK with my 13 year old cat who means the world to me.  I’ve had him since he’s 3 weeks old.  There’s obviously no way I’m giving him up now.  I would want a roommate who is considerate of him and let him have free run of the house/apartment.  I would keep his litter in my room, if necessary, and keep it clean, however I would not want him locked up in my room all day.  Ideally, a potential roommate would also have a nice cat who gets along with other cats.  They could become playmates!

I have not yet secured employment (I'm working on that, but it's just a matter of time and timing), I reckon that I can afford any where between $400-$700/month + utilities. Please respond to me here or email me at phillymarketing (at) yahoo (dot) com.  I've also started a blog to chronicle my bittersweet journey back to Philly, if you're interested in reading or want to pass it along to someone you know who may be looking for a roommate.

Thanks!

I need a place to live! It doesn't look like anyone is currently in need of a roommate, but perhaps you can still help me out.

I'm looking for something affordable (cheap being marginally more important that safe, comfortable, or convenient) preferably in SOUTH PHILLY. would consider some other places too. But I'm having a hard time collecting the names/contact info for any local rental companies!

Drop me some names, links, something?

Thanks!

Seeking Clean/Sober Female Housemate [17 Oct 2007|10:39pm]

[ mood | contemplative ]

I am seeing a clean and sober female housemate. Queer or queer-friendly is also desired.

The house - 1300 sqft, three bedroom, one bath, hwf throughout, front porch, back drive, new washer and dryer, wireless net, satellite tv, full eik, etc.  The room - 11 x 12, wireless net, DirecTV box in room and unfurnished.

Rent is $450 which included all utilities other than wireless net and directv (totals about $40 a month each roommate).  One month deposit required. I would prefer a 6-12 month lease, but that is negotiable.

I am a 27 year old graduate student and full time paralegal. I am gone a lot, but enjoy vegging at home when I do have a moment. I have a dog and a cat, but they are both very friendly and well-behaved. There is no smoking in the house, but on the porch is fine.

thanks

Kathrin

Queer friendly roomate needed (Nov 1) [17 Oct 2006|02:31pm]

ty_guy
I have 2 rooms available in my S. Philly row home for Nov 1st. This will most likely be a temporary situation. I wil probably be moving between December and January, but things are still in the air. If I leave you are welcome to stay and sign the lease…or if things work out and I stay, your welcome to continue your stay as well.
There are also 2 possible scenarios….i have 2 rooms open BUT one is very small.

1. If just one person moves in:
Rent is $450 + utilities (split 2 ways) and you would get BOTH rooms. One could be a big closet or a study or whatever else you desire.
2. If 2 people move in:
The person who gets the small room could use the basement as storage/ extra room for their stuff. Rent would be $300 + utilities (split 3 ways)

House amenities:

• Washer/ Dryer
• Garbage Disposal
• Dishwasher
• Fully furnished (aside from the 2 bedrooms)
• Cable internet / basic cable
• Half a block parallel to broad
• A block and a half from the broad st. subway
• VERY pretty, private block (it’s a one way dead end)
• VERY friendly neighbors
• 2 awesome cats

You must be:

• QUEER FRIENDLY/ QUEER
• Open minded
• Friendly/ not allergic to cats (short haired)
• Steady Job
• Gender doesn’t matter
• 420 friendly
• Clean for the most part

Seeking Female Housemate [08 Oct 2006|06:31pm]

sweetsatingirl
[ mood | content ]

I am looking for a roommate starting November 1, 2006. The room is 13 x 12, with two windows, new AC and original hard wood floors. The walls were recently painted and I will be getting replacement windows within the next 6 months (might wait until spring).

In addition to myself, there is one other roommate. We are each in long term relationships, so queer friendly is a must.
The house has hardwood flooring throughout, all new appliances (except for the fridge), front porch and back drive, living room, eatin kitchen, and full unfinished basement with a new W/D and plenty of storage. We have Comcast Wireless and DirectTv with hookup capabilities in the room (the receiver is already wired - all you have to do is plug it in).

Desired rent is $500 + 1/3 electric and heat (fuel oil PA PIRG coop member).

The house is located in the lower northeast - 2 blocks from Frankford Terminal (are is called Northwood). Route 1 is less than 5 blocks away and i95 is about 1/2 mile. The ride to Center City is about 15 minutes and even faster during rush hour with the express train.

A bit about me: I am originally from Germany. I am a full time paralegal and grad student (Villanova). I recently graduated from Temple University with an MA in History. I am queer and in a long term relationship, so queer friendly is a must. We have a canine (35lb dog) and felines in the house, but they are very affectionate and well behaved (and clean). Everything in the common areas is for communal use, including the grill and lounge chairs on the front porch.

If you are interested please email me at katia511@yahoo.com or call 215 776 1162.

Looking for a female roommate who likes kids! [09 Sep 2006|02:00pm]

sagiegirl
I am a single mom with two young kids who is looking for a female to rent two rooms in my row home. I am in South Philly in a nice area. The two rooms are joined together and one of the rooms has a closet. This is perfect for a bedroom and a separate work area. I am within walking distance of stores, a library, a post office and we are less than a mile from South Street. There is parking available.

The details:Collapse )

If you can't pay rent each month or don't have at least two references I can call then don't bother to get in touch. I would like to meet anyone interested in person and have you come check out the space. If you have any questions for me just get in touch, thanks!

I have one bedroom left to rent out ---  (11 x 14) has two windows -- new AC window unit and original hard wood floor.

The house has hardwood flooring throughout, all new appliaces (except for the fridge), front porch and back drive, living room, sitting room, eatin kitchen, and full unfinished basement with a new W/D. I recently took out the carpeting and am in the process of fixing the damage to the stairs.

Desired rent is $650all utilities included....but I am flexible.

The house is located in the lower northeast - 2 blocks from Frankford Terminal. Route 1 is less than 5 blocks away and i95 is about 1/2 mile. I commute into center city for work - 15 min with the El and 20 via car. Commute to Temple Ambler/ Fr. Washington is also 20 minutes. We have plenty of shopping close by - groceries and mall.

We have felines and a canine. Obviously queer friendly is a must and would prefer a female housemate.

Let me know if you are interested.
